In recent years a number of clinical studies suffer from finding a link between omega-3 fatty acid deficiency and depression, the disease that millions of people, especially in the Western world.
In this article I will publish a list of some of the results of these studies. They all point to the fact that consumption of fish oil could be the best remedy for depression.
Here is the list:
1. Demonstrated by examining the eating habits of people in different parts of the world, it was found that the incidence of depression among people whose diet in fatty fish like salmon or sardines was rich was much lower than others. As you probably know, what are fatty fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids rich.
The same people also showed a lower incidence of diseases such as coronary heart disease and sudden cardiac death, for depression is considered a risk factor.
2. There are two main types of omega-3 and omega-6. While omega-6 are to a greater extent in Western diets, omega-3 that we mostly lack. Among these, the omega-3 are two of the most important: one is called eicospentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid other (DHA). Another important finding of this study was that people in control groups with depression suffer in general, had lower levels of both omega-3 fatty acids than others.
3. Studies have also focused on the relationship between omega-6 and omega-3 in their blood. It was interesting that the ratio of people suffering from depression much higher (had much more omega-6 than omega-3 than others. In general, this ratio should be 3:1. In these individuals, it could be as high as 30: 1
Finally, all results above have a note from a reliable source: the taking of fish oil against depression is certainly worth consideration.
But not just any oil will do. What is very important that a high proportion of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA), which should contain the omega-6. Omega-3 is mainly found in fatty fish.
Now one could argue that it would be better if they take the fat from your diet rather than supplements. I can only agree, but unfortunately, we face the sad reality:
The ration of food today (especially in the so-called “advanced” Western world), is much worse than they have for some time. To cite a few examples, we get our meat from grain fed instead of grass being fed cattle and fed with pellets of fish in fish farms, rather than their power of their natural habitat in seas and lakes.
For this reason, more and more people who use the supplement to meet their nutritional needs and regain health.
